Muskingum University Education Program

Developing Teacher-Leaders Who Encourage, Equip, and Empower All Students.

Our Education Program offers several degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Arts in Education) and numerous licensure areas (see full list below) that will prepare you to become a teacher, administrative specialist, principal, and superintendent. We serve a continuum of learners: traditional undergrads pursuing initial licensure, adult students looking to finish a degree, and teachers pursuing advanced degrees.

In terms of employment opportunities, a national teacher shortage has created a growing demand for teachers and administrators, especially in high-need areas such as Math, Science, and Special Education. Our Education Program will help you take advantage of these job opportunities as well as make a difference in the lives of countless young people.

Program Outcomes

From 2021 to the present, our graduates have a 90% average pass rate on Ohio Assessment for Educators licensing exams. In the same time frame, more than 86% of our teacher and administrative candidates report working in their licensure or endorsement area. We work hard to build partnerships with school districts all over southeastern Ohio to make these opportunities possible for our students. In turn, many of our graduates become mentors in the teaching profession for the next generation of students. Good teachers know that they must pay it forward. With much appreciation, our graduates give back as much as they were given while at Muskingum.
